Welcome

The Child and Adolescent Screening Inventory for Residential Care (CASI) is an evidenced-based, computerized assessment instrument for children and adolescents referred to group homes or residential treatment facilities. It is designed to be used by county placing agencies and residential treatment programs with the goal of identifying children at risk for multiple placements and improving treatment outcomes, or as part of a psychological assessment battery for the purpose of developing a comprehensive, effective treatment plan.

The CASI is the only assessment instrument designed specifically for children in residential care. It can be used as a stand-alone assessment, or as part of a larger clinical battery.

The CASI is designed to:

  • Identify children at risk for multiple residential placements
  • Comprehensively assess a child’s clinical needs and develop focused, targeted treatment interventions
  • Help determine which children need additional or more intensive services in order to stabilize them in care
  • Reduce placement instability consistent with federal outcomes and accountability standards and improve performance outcomes
  • Reduce length of stay in residential treatment by identifying the most appropriate setting and clinical interventions at the outset

The CASI can be used for clients from the ages of 10 to 19 inclusive, with separate behavior norms for both boys and girls.

Testimonials

Our agency consistently uses the CASI as a routine part of our intake process. Overall, we have found the CASI to be an extremely useful tool in helping us develop more effective treatment plans. I highly recommend the CASI to any agency that is interested in providing high quality services and improving their client outcomes.
